England Come from Behind to Beat Slovakia and Move Closer to World Cup Qualification

Marcus Rashford Scores Winner in 2-1 Victory

England survived a scare as they came from behind to beat Slovakia at Wembley and take a giant stride towards qualification for next year's World Cup in Russia.

After a somewhat laboured display in Malta on Friday, England arrived at Wembley determined to win over their sceptical fans with a positive performance.

They made a dreadful start, though, and fell behind to a Stanislav Lobotka goal after just three minutes.

England eventually settled into the game and equalised through Eric Dier in the 39th minute.

Marcus Rashford then put England on the brink of World Cup qualification with a stunning winner in the 59th minute.

The victory takes England to 20 points from eight games in Group F, four points clear of second-placed Slovakia.

England will now need just two points from their remaining two games to secure their place at the World Cup.
